Bruce and his family founded GFI Digital in 1999. Bruce first started his career at Modern Business Systems (MBS) and paved the way in copier sales, facsimile sales, and sales management. During the MBS transition to Alco Standard and eventually IKON, Bruce moved to Chicago where he was challenged to grow the struggling branch. Taking IKON Chicago from 4 employees to 160 employees Bruce was a proven leader in the industry. Bruce then broke off of IKON and moved back to St. Louis, MO to start his own dealership in 1999. Bruce has grown his company from 4 employees and $1 million in revenue his first year to now over 210 employees and close to $50 million in revenue. Even with this exponential growth Bruce is able to pave the way in the technology world providing numerous services including: managed networked, managed print, business products, mobile technology, software solutions, and customized integrations.
Corey Backues

Corey Backues is Vice President of Sales for GFI Digital. He has over 21 years’ experience in the area of Sales and Leadership in the office equipment industry. He oversees the Sales department, which is responsible for over $40 million in total sales. Throughout his career he has won Manager of the Year 8 times and is a 18 time Presidents Club Winner. Prior to joining GFI Digital, Corey served as Director of Sales at IKON Office Solutions (now Ricoh). He received his sales and management training at Modern Business Systems in the 1990’s. Corey held numerous leadership roles including Director of Sales, General Manager and Director of Business Development while at IKON. His area of expertise is sales rep development and major accounts. Corey maintains active involvement in several community service organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau of Mid Missouri. He is a member of the United Way Board of Governors and the President of his Rotary Club. He has previously been a board member of the Cole County Special Services and Special Learning center which serves children with special needs. Corey received his Undergraduate degree from University of Central Missouri State and his Masters of Business Administration from William Woods University. He is married and has two children.
Kevin Simmons

Kevin Simmons

Director of Sales – St. Louis Region

Kevin Simmons began selling copy machines in 1987 after graduating from Mizzou. The dealer he was working for was eventually acquired by Alco Standard in 1991 and in the same year Kevin became Sales Manager and eventually moved up to VP of Sales. In 1997 Alco changed the name to Ikon and started merging all their companies together. As VP of Sales for Missouri and Illinois, Kevin was responsible for merging all Modern Business Systems and Mirex employees together. He was the area VP and General Manager for Missouri and Illinois the last 4 years he was there. During that time Kevin led a significant restructuring effort in Missouri and Illinois. There were significant changes mandated from Headquarters which required the downsizing of many offices. In 2006 Kevin joined GFI Digital as a Sales Manager. He was familiar with Bruce and Hallie Gibbs from their many years at Modern Business Systems (MBS) that Hallie founded. Kevin is continuously growing St. Louis as the Director of Sales for the St. Louis Branch.
John Hauck

Production Color Manager and Corporate Trainer

John Hauck started his career in copiers sales with Xerox in 1970. John held various positions prior to transitioning to Ricoh/Savin in 1981. There he became the Branch Sales Manager of Tampa. John decided to move back to St. Louis in 1992 and started working for Hallie Gibbs at Modern Business Systems (MBS) as a High Volume Color Manager for Oce products. From there John transitioned to Sharp Electronics in 1996 as a High Volume Manager until Hallie’s son Bruce Gibbs started GFI Digital in 1999. John was one of the “originals” who started working for GFI Digital when it was founded. John currently holds a Sales Manager position of our Cape and Mt. Vernon offices.
Matt Schuler

Matt Schuler

Director of Service, Administration, & Operations

After graduating from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2000 Matt relocated to Boulder, Colorado where he began working for the Rockies Brewing Company as a brewer. Shortly thereafter Matt moved into a Production Manager roll. After four years as Production Manager he was hired by White Wave Foods as Warehouse Manager of their Boulder facility. One year later, Matt moved into the SAP Master Data Business Analyst-Operations Planning position where he oversaw the conversion of three ERP systems to SAP. Following the SAP conversion Matt was promoted to Procurement Manager for Paper Packaging in charge of an $89 million annual budget. When Matt decided to relocated to Missouri, he joined GFI Digital in 2008 as Director of Operations.  
Jeff Cook

Jeffrey Cook

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Jeffrey Cook started in the copier industry in 1994 after earning a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering. After years of experience as a technician and a brief career in the telecom industry, he joined GFI Digital in 2001. Following his first year providing IT and connectivity support he was promoted to Director of Service and led the Service and IT Departments. After many years in Service, Jeff became CIO and now focuses solely on IT and leading GFI Digital’s DigitalMPS and DigitalNET programs.
